QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

Who is the 1-Year Apprenticeship for?

Lay leaders in your church who are ready to serve and teach. Your apprentice stays in your church and keeps serving while they train.

How long does it take?

About a year. Apprentices typically give 10–15 hours a week, move through the eleven learning outcomes at their own pace, and finish when competency is demonstrated.

Who are the three mentors?

A Ministry Mentor from your church (a pastor or elder), an Academic Mentor from ATI, and a Network Mentor from the wider Aquila network.

What does the Ministry Mentor commit to?

Typically about 10 hours a month: oversight, opening up ministry opportunities, taking part in assessment, and leading the church’s commissioning. ATI provides the structure and support.

What does it cost?

For churches in the Aquila Network, nothing: there is no tuition, because ATI is funded by donations to Aquila Initiative e.V., a registered non-profit. For churches outside the Network, the 1-Year Apprenticeship costs €5,000.

Is it accredited?

No. The 1-Year Apprenticeship is reviewed by our Academic Board, and competency is affirmed by the sending church. Completed the 1-Year? You can be grandfathered into the MAMT, our accredited Master of Arts, and your work counts toward it.

Where does the learning happen?

In your church, and online through Pathwright. Training is in English; German-language training is in development.
